About Freecess

 

 

Freecess came about initially with the idea of individuals being able to step away from the technology that runs us—you know, cell phones, laptops, and any electronic that we might be glued to. The idea to be able to take a pause from the day to day world of technology and really focus on ourselves. To take a pause with full intention and do something that benefits you in a productive, restful state. Freecess is a quiet time reminder where we can pause to meditate, workout, and reflect—putting down our cellphones…(whoa, now we’re talking craziness!)  We live in a world of instant convenience; at the touch of a screen, anything is possible. There is a worldwide yearning to slow down. To feel, see and breathe again. As kids we had Recess, giving us time to really step away from the busy day and let loose. Well, here we are kiddos….this is Freecess.

 

The goal of Freecess is to be able to partner with individuals to unveil and explore from within in the NOW to create a life of sustainable fulfillment.  

 

This leads to the idea of Freecess taking on overall wellness through its mantra, "Fit Life Perspective."  The program consists of three parts. 

 

1. Fit Life Personal Training: This is where we partner in individualized physical training sessions. Together, we work to craft a unique exercise program. It’s time to get physical! Finding out where you are NOW physically, and through proper assessments, we create a plan to get you where you desire to be.  We sit down and discuss where you are with your nutrition and create sustainable options. Through proper programming, motivation, and desire we will get you the results you want and need to be the healthiest version of yourself.

2. Fit Life Coaching: This is where we partner in coaching conversations to explore what you truly value. To find out who you are and what YOU really want.  The main priority is to stay curious and create an awareness of your options and possibilities that we all have in our lives. To create clarity which leads to more informed decision making. Heightening self-actualization and giving you more focus to work on what you want and need. Together, helping you take action by giving you support and a healthy and safe place for reflection. These are all tools to help empower you. The main goal is to assist you to discover your own potential. 

 

3. Fit Life Perspective Program:  This is where we partner and combine the first two programs, with intentional conversations and focused physical training. This leads to the idea that while your body is in action your brain can be in an occupied state, allowing you to really come from a true place of exploration and creation.  Giving yourself the opportunity to discover the deepest levels of yourself.  You won’t have that moment to pause, and subconsciously and intentionally give a thought-out unauthentic response.  You will be in a real place of discovery which provides an abundance of awareness and options.  

We seek to encapsulate wellness as a whole. Hoping to hit pieces emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.  Freecess being the place to be and find your true authentic self.

Hello! I am Kenny Ulysses Grant, the creator and founder of Freecess. I have been a personal trainer with over 17 years experience. Having a strong interpersonal partnership with clients is fundamental to me and with Freecess I have launched a series of programs to help clients reach their potential.

My Mission: To give everyone space to create. To express and explore. To live, learn, and love by unveiling their powers within

 

My Vision: Working Together with people as partners to enhance the world.  Providing an open space for exploration and the expression of our true selves.  By cultivating the highest level of wellness – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

My Story

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, I learned quickly how to adapt and evolve in many different situations one was faced with. It was, and still is, a tough city; lots of street violence and crime, and many circumstances where my family and I struggled to afford life’s basic necessities. It wasn’t an easy city to grow up in, so to speak, but I always appreciated its grit and untamed energy.

 

Along with environmental struggles growing up, I also faced personal struggles with weight and self-confidence early on as a teen. For the most part, I was extremely social and well-liked by my peers, always taking on the role of championing for the underdogs around the neighborhood. But I didn’t feel happy with myself; I didn’t feel good about the person I was seeing in the mirror. And when I was 13 years old and saw myself in a photo with my friends, I knew a change needed to happen. Something just “clicked.”

 

This is where fitness originally made its way into my life.

 

I moved to New York City in 2003 with $50 in my pocket and a dream. This is where my career in fitness and health officially began and have now been coaching and teaching for 18 years. I am privileged to have worked with many clients from different walks of life – from Zen Buddhist Monks, Fortune 500 companies, Teachers, and everything in between.

 

As of late, I became a Certified Life and Perspective Coach through Coach U, in an effort to further assist clients in attaining all it is they want out of life. It is my passion to guide others along their journey, always beginning with acceptance and a nonjudgmental perspective – for both of us. My client relationships are always a two-way street, and over the years I feel so grateful for all whom I have had the honor to work, learn, and grow from.

 

I currently live in New York City and Connecticut with my wife and 1.5-year-old son. Proudly celebrating 3 years of sobriety recently, I am dedicated to my own personal growth and always welcome partners in “shine” to join me on this ever-evolving journey we call LIFE.

My sessions with Kenny have been the smartest financial investment I've made in my pregnancy. Kenny came highly recommended by my OBGYN- I wanted to see a trainer to help prep me for labor, delivery, recovery and having an overall better pregnancy (I'm 37 years old and this is my first child). Aside from Kenny being a pleasure to train with, he is highly knowledgeable about prenatal conditioning and perhaps most importantly- I saw major results. We trained for about 10 weeks, once a week- and could see myself becoming toned, feeling better, and having more energy even with my growing belly. I usually came to Kenny after work, spent from the day but always ended our sessions full of energy. After 10 weeks, COVID-19 closed all the gyms in the city but Kenny was able to make our sessions virtual, and we continued to train for another 10 weeks. I have no doubt, the ease of my pregnancy (especially now in my 9th month) is mostly due to his training. I'm due any day now and can't wait to report back on the rest.
